Cricket (aka The OG, Sid) was our very first AHT. She is our Josephine and we jokingly refer to her as our gate way drug that hooked us on AHTs. We had just lost our beloved Frenchie and I was looking for a smaller, non brachycephalic pup (Texas is HOT), to add to the family. I had my mind set on a Jack Russell, so we went to the local Humane Society just to see what was available for adoption. While walking through the adoption viewing area, out of the corner of my eye, I notice a black head briefly appearing in front of the viewing glass before dropping back down behind the solid bottom half of the enclosure... over and over.... and over. Upon a closer look, I realize it is a small pup that has NO HAIR and she is hopping on her back legs about 3-4 feet in the air so she can peak out the window. Mind you she is doing this while standing on her back legs! All the while wagging her tail so hard her entire body is wiggling! I will admit, my first thought was "what an ugly, crazy dog" and I kept walking. My husband paused at her kennel to watch her antics and said, "Honey, I think she has the personality you are looking for". I was not convinced, but agreed to at least take a closer look. So, we asked the volunteer to allow us to visit with her. We were led to a private visiting room and the volunteer said she would be right back. Within a minute or two the volunteer was at the door holding this naked, wiggling mass in her arms. The volunteer places the wiggling bio mass on the floor and the young pup immediately runs to me, jumps in my lap, sticks her head in the crook of my arm and snuggles in. I was done for and the rest, they say, is history.
